Fantasy Recap: May 19
By CHRIS NICHOLS -- SLAM! Sports
Calgary 3 San Jose 1 (Calgary wins series 4-2)
Since I only ended up with one of my four Conference Finals picks making it (Philly), I'll have to take great solace in the fact that my Cinderella pick (Flames) - predicted in print back on April 6th - ended up in the Finals. Hard work paid off for them and congrats to the Calgary, who wanted it more.
Jarome "Just call me Connie" Iginla was large in this game and his power play goal in the first period was his 10th of the playoffs and fourth in his last five games... Calgary's second goal of the game from Marty Gelinas was clutch from a guy that has been clutch-plus in this post-season. Can you believe this guy has the series clincher in three straight rounds? Craig Conroy chipped in his 14th and 15th points and keep him in mind for 60+ points in your league next season as his linemate Iginla will likely crank it up a notch next year... Jordan Leopold has three points in his last six games... Alyn McCauley's goal was his third point of the series... Nils Ekman only had three points in the playoffs after a 55-point regular season, but two of those three came in the past four games... Mike Rathje had four points in this series after only two points in the previous two... Patrick Marleau's disappearing act in terms of point production (Two points in this series) will make him work harder in the off-season and look for him to exceed his 57-point regular season... Vinnie Damphousse has almost always been clutch in the playoffs during his career and this year was no different (14 points in 17GP)... Evgeni Nabokov has reclaimed his rightful place among the elite fantasy goalies and should be among the first keepers taken next year... Brad Stuart finished with one point in this series, which wasn't good enough... Although Jonathan Cheechoo only had one goal in this series, I'm still optimistic of 25-30 goals next season.
