ASK SLAM!

By CHRIS NICHOLS -- SLAM! Sports

Chris: Who would you rather have in a no PIM league for down the stretch: Zednik or Gary Roberts?
Thanks for everything, Joe

I'd go with Zednik, especially since he's been so hot lately.

Do you like Yashin as a pick up over Conroy, Morozov, or Samsonov? Yahoo H2H playoffs. No pen mins.
Cheers!

In the playoffs you need guys who are producing now. I'd go with either Conroy or Morozov.

Hey Chris: I'm in the semi-finals for FHL championship right now playing in Yahoo... My opponent's roster is superior to mine; he has 7 of the top 10 scorers and some not too shabby goalies... On the other hand, my roster is full of "surprise" stars who are not 100% proven... Anyways, I have Savard and Tanguay on my roster, both are good and I'd love to keep them but they are injured and I don't know if I should drop them. Some sites say Tanguay will be back in early April but by then playoffs will be done... Savard's injuries have destroyed his season and I don't know if he'll come back anytime soon and even if he does I don't know if he'll be effective... If I drop these two players now and pick up two active players, I might have a chance of advancing to the finals... Should I drop Tanguay and Savard and pick up players like Conroy, Simon, Walker, Ryder, Handzus, Holik, Spezza, Knuble, Daze, and Sedin??

Tanguay should be dropped because he'll be out a few weeks. Since you need scoring now, you may have to cut bait on Savard. As I write this, no new info has been released regarding Savard playing. Conroy, Walker, Knuble and Daze are certainly worth a look and I'd start there.

How's it going Chris? Compliments on the article as always but I'm gonna get straight to my question. My team is in first in yahoo h2h in the second week of playoffs....and what a bad time for players like Forsberg, Lang, and Tanguay all to be down... I heard Forsberg is going to make his return soon, so I'm thinking of dropping Lang and or Tanguay but if I do I'm curious as to who to pick up...here are some options:
At center for Lang: Gomez NJ, Nieuwendyk Tor, Conroy Cal, McCauley SJ H Sedin Van, or Modano
at LW for Tanguay: Modin TB, Drury Buf, Ekman SJ, Maltby Det, or Morozov Pit
I just need a good all-around player that will contribute frequently... I'm definitely thinking I should dump Lang but what about Tanguay?
Thanks for your help, Nate - Detroit

With playoffs underway, you likely need to get rid of the injured dead weight - assuming you have no spare IR slot for any of them. Morozov is a good bet for now on the wing and Gomez or Conroy at center. Good luck.

It's sudden death time, Chris... we're in the midst of the playoffs and we only have this week and next week left. Yahoo H2H (G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, GWG) (W, S%, GAA, SHO) I'm up against the guy in first place and he's been "dropping sand bags" so he'll have the most guys playing on each day as possible. Not sure if I should follow his lead or not. As I plan out my week, I notice I'm not playing Barnaby and Bondra as much. Wondering if I should drop one of them for the following. These guys are not necessarily the best guys available, but they are playing on the odd days when I don't have a full roster:
Morozov (Pittsburgh has a rough schedule this week)
Kraft
Niinimaa
Ronning
Czerkawski
Peca
Hrdina
Sillinger
Madden

You've got to maximize your roster, so you may want to follow his lead. Morozov and Kraft are hot, so start with them. You can always grab Bondra and Barnaby back when they clear waivers. If they don't clear, grab someone else. It's all about what you do this week, so get it done and good luck.
