What do you think of this...?
I give: Giguere, Redden
I get: Lalime, Zubov
Thoughts on this one?
Thanks for all your help, Alan
Do it. Lalime is a better bet than Jiggy for this season.
Chris: The advice has been great this year. From 9th, I've managed to pull myself into 3rd one point from 2nd. I'm in a H2H league and will have 3 or 4 keepers for next year. I'm really happy with my team -but was wondering if you could rank the top 5 of the guys for next year: Sundin, Datsyuk, Comrie, Zetterberg, Hejduk, Alfredsson, Heatley, Belfour, Aebischer, and Khabibulin.
Thanks. Alex
No problem. Hejduk and Heatley are automatics in my book. Aebischer is your third, assuming he's still the only goalie in Colorado. (If Khabi gets traded to a great team where he's #1, he'd be good too). Datsyuk, Alfredsson and Zetterberg are nice too.
Hi Chris: I am currently mired in 7th place of a 8 team H-H Yahoo league, looking to make a move and need to keep myself interested in the pool, I have a few players that I'm concerned with and I would like your opinions on them first is Brian Leetch, is he worth keeping or should I drop him in favor of say Kimmo Timonen, Second is John LeClair, should I expect his numbers to improve? And third, should I try to move some of my top end talent for a couple of middle / high end players or just stay with what I have?
Thanks for the HELP Todd
Leetch has been hot lately, so I'd keep him around for now. LeClair will produce about the same all year, so I'd dump him or deal him. Only move your players if it improves your team - don't trade just to trade.
Chris: First of all, thanks for all the advise and columns - I can't emphasize enough how helpful it's been! I have a few quick questions to ask you: Palffy's injury has forced me to remove him from my team: Thornton, Lecavalier, Forsberg, Kariya, Samsonov, Satan, Gaborik, Pronger, Turco, and Giguere. What do you think of a possible trade involving Satan and Giguere for Lalime, and what comments say you about a possible player(s) to trade from my team for Brodeur (hint: the owner won't let him go very easily...), and any other comments about how glorious and wonderful and any other words to describe my team would also be appreciated. My league counts points, and wins and SO for goalies.
Thanks, Dan
If you can give up those two for Lalime, do it. Then you won't need to deal for Brodeur, who will be expensive in any league. Samsonov is coming on strong, so that helps your team too.
Love the column Chris! If only you did Basketball columns...
I'm offering a buddy Zetterberg and Cloutier for Theodore, though he may want Comrie/Cloutier instead. I'm in a typical Yahoo league that counts everything. My team is
C: Comrie, Weight, Savard, Datsyuk
LW: Kariya, Tkachuk, Zetterberg, Naslund
RW: Hossa, Alfredsson, Hejduk
D: Pronger, Gonchar, Lidstrom, Souray
G: Weekes, Cloutier, Aebischer
Would you do either of these, or would you stand pat? My thought is that Theodore will put up more consistent stats, though Cloutier is sure to get a lot of W's.
I would stand pat. Cloutier and the Canucks should have a strong second half and I think your goaltending is fine.
Hey Chris: Right now I'm sitting on Khabibulin, Raycroft (thanks for the 10.75 GAA), Sean Burke, and Cujo (thank god for Cujo). There isn't too much to grab onto out there, Toskala, DiPietro, Snow is on Waivers and I have a low Waiver status. Should I grab any of those guys? And if so, who should I dump? I think Burke will be backing up Aebischer and Khabibulin will be taking a back seat to Grahame while they feel him out as a starter. Bottom line is....it don't look pretty for the Broken Knows Broilers.
Later, Rob
Tough situation to be in, no doubt. Raycroft has been strong lately and the Bruins should win a good portion of games in the next few weeks. You basically have to hope for a trade or two from the NHL teams to straighten out your situation.
Chris: I'm in a total points pool. At the all-star break I have the opportunity to replace any one of my 10 active players with my reserve - Luc Robitaille. Am considering moving either Ales Hemsky or Dean McAmmond. What are your thoughts on these players for the second half of the season?
Thanks.
It's a toss-up. Luc should get plenty of ice time with all of the injured forwards. McAmmond's value is tied to any play with Iginla. Hemsky should produce another 25 points in the second half. So in short, you may want to take out McAmmond for Luc and hope McAmmond doesn't light it up.
I have 4 goalies right now. Lalime, Cechmanek, Esche, and Raycroft. Should I drop one to pick Lubomir Visnovsky and which should I drop? (Only have 4 defense men can play 4 per day, can only play 2 goalies a day)
I'd probably stick with what you have.
Hey Chris. Good advice. I am slowly moving up thanks to your advice (now in 4th from 8th). I am trying to think ahead. I picked up Mogilny as a FA. When he comes back (when ever that might be) I will have too many RW's. Should I drop Lehtinen or Hemsky (these guys are not doing what I thought they would be) or try to trade one of them for a LW or a centre? Do you think I would get anything for either one of them? My other RW's are Iginla and Gaborik. My league is H2H and counts everything, but PIM. I also just made a move that arose over the weekend. I traded my Adam Foote for Luc Robitaille. I needed some more scoring at LW. My other D-men are Morris, McCabe, and Staios & Leopold. Because of this move I would like to pick up another D-man. Jillson, Tanabe and S. Hill are available. Who would be best to pick up? Thanks in advance.
Jeff
I'd drop Lehtinen or Hemsky when he comes back. You probably won't get much in trade value for them.
You maybe should have kept Foote... none of those D-men is that attractive to grab.
