Doan for Comrie, Kariya and Satan? I'd like to get Doan, but do not want to let all three go. Who should I offer to get Doan? I'm in first but, my team hasn't been all that consistent. We go head to head play, PIM are a negative.
Kent Dolle
That's waaaaaaay too much talent for Doan. Try to package Satan and Comrie if you want, but don't include Kariya in the deal. When you sell this to the other owner, play up the fact that Satan has been red-hot over the past several weeks and that Comrie has done well for Philly. Doan is a great talent, but I'd rather have Kariya this season.
Chris: What's up with Hemsky? I'd like your thoughts on him for the second half as I'm contemplating dropping him for McEachern, Messier or Patrice Bergeron in a points only league. Secondly, we start one goalie per week in my league. I have Hasek, Nurminen, and I picked up and started McLennan for this week. Andrew Raycroft and Jeff Hackett are available. Our playoffs happen during March. Do I drop Hasek now, stay the course with Nurminen or pick up a free agent? Thanks for your always valuable insight.
Tom in the State of Hockey
Hemsky has definitely struggled lately on an Edmonton team that is struggling to be mediocre. I still stand by my pre-season prediction that he'll end up at around 50 points, so that means another 25 points or so to come.
In net, I would drop Nurminen and add Raycroft. Hackett has struggled a bit, but I'd likely add him when Roman Turek comes back and starts some games.
Is Jason Allison ever coming back? I've had him the last two years, and watching him sit on my bench is painful.
Thanks, Jose Mendez
I think this year is pretty much a lost cause for him. Hopefully he can return next year, but I'd avoid him.
Chris!! Please help me again...... Palffy (7.0m) is out! Position is Any Forward Position. Points are 2 for goal and 1 for assist. I am currently first. Choices I like are Doan (2.8m), Nagy (1.0m), Kariya (1.2m), Tanguay (1.5m), Alfredsson (5.1m), Satan (4.8m). Who do you think will have the best 2nd half?
Thanks, Tony in Vancouver, BC..... Goal Canucks Goal!!!
For the money, I like grabbing Kariya and Tanguay. The Avs are going to be huge in the second half. Doan and Nagy are tremendous talents are still look to be pretty good bargains in your league too. Alfredsson is great, but pretty expensive.
Hi Chris, I recently discovered you column and am looking forward to using your advice, especially next year as my team is all but out of it this year. My leagues ONLY counts wins/shutouts for goalies. My goalies have killed me this year. Biron, Hackett, and Burke are my current goaltenders, but we only play two. Simple question, do I get rid of one and pick up Turek before he actually comes back to ensure I get him? The only other starters available are Roloson and Kolzig (who I initially drafted). Like I said, I'm pretty much out of it, but I would still like to make a second half run. Help!
For the long-term, I'd drop Biron and grab Roloson. Leave Kolzig on the dust pile. This will help you out. Hope Burke gets traded somewhere and maybe that can help you out.
Hey Chris: Who would you consider some of the best bargains out there to trade for right now? My forwards are stacked (Sakic, Kovalchuk, Lang, Datsyuk, Recchi, Selanne, Nash, Havlat, McEachern, and LeCavalier) but I could use some PIM's and my D could use an upgrade. I'm thinking someone along the lines of Jovanovski...
-Q
It depends on the league, but Jovo is certainly a good target. His point production has been lower than expected lately, but he should have a pretty good second half. You'll have a brief window of opportunity to get guys like Kariya and Selanne and Tanguay.
Chris: what do u think of my Klee and Satan for Niedermayer? Thx for the great advice.
-J from Dartmouth
Pretty good deal, if you can use another forward. Satan has been really good lately.
