Hey...great advice. Do you think nick Antropov is worth keeping on my team? I'm feeling he doesn't produce enough to stay on my team and waste my games played category...im thinking of dropping him outright for no one, because im on pace to go over games-played. What do you think?
There are a few variables to consider, but chances are fairly good that if you're over on GP that you can dump him outright.
I have B Morrison as my #1 center of two starters. My problem is the other starter, where I used to have Lindros. Now I use Lecavalier or Yzerman, but they kind of lack in FW and PIM's. Olli Jokinen became a free agent in our yahoo league and will get tons of FW and some PIM's, but is he worth picking up despite his bad +/- rating? Or should I grab Zhamnov? If yes, whom to drop of Big E, Y or Vinnie?
Dave
I think Lecavalier will garner enough points to warrant keeping him in that second slot.
Hello again Chris... I'm in need of your help with my fantasy team. I am a huge Atlanta fan and drafted Heatley first overall at the beginning of the season only to have him lost that very night with the accident. Due to other players going on the IR for a less long-term basis (Kariya, etc.) I ended up having to dump Heatley for the roster spot. Needless to say he was picked up by others. I would like to have him back and have been trying to work a trade with his current owner. What I don't want to happen is me giving a lot more than market value for a player because I am personally attached. We have season tickets, and I have seen him with some great looks but without his former polish and stamina. I know no one knows what will happen - but I figure you have a better guestimate than I do. I am currently being asked to trade Mark Recchi, whose production has significantly increased in the past week. What is your opinion of that trade?
Thanks for your column and your time.
Jenn
Jenn, I'd be willing to give up Recchi for Heatley. It's tough to be in that situation, because the other owner likely knows about your fondness for Heatley. There's no question that Heatley still has a ways to go, but he's eating up big minutes each night and I still believe the points will come.
I have a goalie question for you. I was thinking of picking up Manny Legace for a little while. How do you see his role when Hasek comes back? When do you think Hasek will be back? My other goalies are Weekes & Theodore. Who would you drop out of Hemsky & Gaborik to do this? I am also trying to trade Hemsky for DiPietro. What do you think of that one? Thanks in advance.
Jeff
I wouldn't waste your time with Legace. Hasek's comeback date could be anywhere from mid-February to never, but either way... Cujo or Hasek will be getting most of the starts. Hemsky has been disappointing for me, for sure, so I'd give him up in a one-year league for DiPietro, who has been fairly hot.
Chris, A guy is heavy on Centers and is offering me Yzerman and Selanne for my Bertuzzi. I'm thinking no, it's an everything counts Yahoo H2h. His other C's are Lang, Marleau, Bonk, Savard, and he also has Tanguay. Should I counter mixing in some other players of his? My C's are pretty weak w/Modano, Comrie, and B.Morrison.
Thanks,
My advice is to not deal Bertuzzi for anyone. If you need help at Center, try dealing someone else.
You have helped me out a great deal in the past and I'm hoping I didn't screw up this trade. My d is terrible. I had Leetch, Berard, Kalinin, and Boynton. My centers were Sakic, Datsyuk, and Koivu. I traded Sakic, Kalinin, and Whitney for Pronger, Robitaille, and Langkow. Did I get ripped off? I'm not sure how to rate defenseman.
It's close enough. The trade boils down to Sakic and Pronger and both guys are studs. Few guys can deliver all-around stats like Pronger and few scorers are as prolific as Sakic on a loaded Colorado team.
I read your column daily and agree that Morrison is good even though many are looking to deal him. With his trade value low, do you think I should offer Samsonov for Morrison?
League counts G/A/Pts/SHG/PIM'S/+/-/
Thanks, Steve
PS What is up with Hemsky benched the last two games? Is it time to drop him? Guys available are Handzus, Langenbrunner, Mark Bell, Dumont, Sedins (Both), Jason King, Amonte, Dvorak, Kvasha. Any of them good enough for Hemsky?
Morrison for Sammy is pretty even. Morrison is a lock to play with Naslund and Bert most games, while Sammy can get dumped on Thornton's line much more easily. I'd make the deal.
Hemsky... man, he frustrates me. In a one-year league, dump him for Handzus.
I'm putting Jokinen on the block... Is it worth dropping him for Holik, Zhamnov, Dvorak, Arnason or Conroy? I also have Selanne... should I stay patient with him, or drop him for one of the above?
I would keep Jokinen over those guys, assuming your league counts PIM's and SOG. Selanne is a really tough call. If you feel your team has to make a move, dump him for Zhamnov - who will be traded soon enough. Holik is another decent all-around option.
