Fantasy Recap: Apr. 23

By CHRIS NICHOLS -- SLAM! Sports
Tampa Bay 4 Montreal 0 (Tampa Bay leads series 1-0)

Vinnie Lecavalier broke through for 2G, 1A in this game after being held pointless against the IslesÉ Lecavalier was robbed of a hat trick twice by Mathieu Garon, who was perfect after replacing Jose Theodore in the third periodÉ Cory Stillman was back in the lineup for Tampa and had no points with three shots and 13:00 of ice timeÉ The three assists by Martin St. Louis extend his point streak to four games (4G, 4A)É Ruslan Fedotenko has scored in three straight games for TampaÉ Dan Boyle (3) and Darryl Sydor (2) have combined for five points from the blueline so farÉ Nik Khabibulin is in the proverbial zone and now has four shutouts in six games Ð hello Conn Smythe and hello Stanley Cup if no one can solve this guyÉ Montreal got shut out 3-0 in the Boston opener but still won the series in seven gamesÉ Aside from the first game in the Boston series, Alex Kovalev had scored a point in every game until Friday nightÉ Saku Koivu had his three-game, seven point scoring streak stopped with this shutoutÉ With his 19-PIM effort in Game One, Sheldon Souray now has 31 PIMÕs in allÉ After 27 points in 50 regular season games played, Pierre Dagenais has one lone assist in the playoffsÉ As good as Jose Theodore has been in these playoffs overall, he has still allowed two or more goals in six of eight playoff games. Generally speaking, those kind of numbers will not take you into the Conference Finals.

In addition to analyzing fantasy hockey for us, Chris also writes a weekly column for ESPN's fantasy hockey section during the regular season and periodically during the rest of the year. He can also be found at Mckeenshockey.com, where his News & Notes section is featured seven days a week through the end of the playoffs.
